| It is difficult to speak about MUSIC in general, for it will either take a lot of time or just one sentence to explain our attitude. It is an art that vividly reflects life. It expresses our desires and opinions, stirs our feelings and fills our minds with new plans. We listen to music, we dance to music, finally we relax to music. In fact, music is everywhere: in our iPods, Mp3 players, on TV, on the radio and in our hearts. The world of music has no limits and everybody will find there something which will satisfy their preferences and needs. But for music, our life would be dull and monotonous. We enjoy music, as it has a great influence on our mood and imagination, truly reflects our inner state and character, wakes up profound feelings and makes us think. It helps us reduce strain or obtain new sources of energy. When we speak about music we commonly imply songs. Songs include lyrics and melodies. A lot of studies have proved that words greatly influence our way of thinking, behaviour and mood, and largely without conscious awareness. Favourite songs are listened to over and over, hence affecting our perception of the world and people aroun us and awakening our emotions. Lyrics are considered to be the most recognisable constituent of any song. It makes one song sound different from another. It makes it appealing to the audience. Certainly, there is also the beat that makes a song sound unique. But words are a lot easier to remember comparing to instrumental music. More than that, they can be easily translated to somebody else. Thus, you will quicker find a CD, if you remember some prime lyrics of a song you have heard over the radio. Lyrics are an important constituent of any song that music fans give special attention to. Still, there are good and bad lyrics. Good lyrics are comrehensible and clear to a wide circle of listeners, as they highlight important life situations and tell touching life stories. Bad lyrics mainly feature trifles that are insignificant and have no deep meaning. Sometimes they are simple slogans one step away from pure gibberish. Most fans like songs which have meanings. Thus, good lyrics together with pleasantly sounded melodies turn a song into a musical masterwork which will be played over and over by people of different age and race and handed down from generation to generation. |
